Michael "Mike" Gauer has an incredibly potent story to share in his book 'Hopeless to Harvard: A Father's Story of Winning the Battle of Teen Addiction'. His resume of winning over obstacles includes:
- Against long odds, Mike worked with his son, who had made an enormous miss-step in the 8th grade that got him expelled from school, started a precipitous fall which ensued over next three years that seemed to be irreversible, and caused Mike and his wife to wage a life and death struggle for his son's recovery. Especially those with children will find this a most harrowing story of love, family and a refusal to give in to defeat.
- Having survived a near fatal automobile accident in 2000 that left him with severe chronic pain, he was number one at Kastle Systems, LLC, an international office building security firm each of the years from 2000-2008 for all business development directors, out of a field of scores of (on paper) far better qualified executives.
- Provided key support to his mother who was diagnosed with bi-polar disorder with psychotic episodes and brought her back literally from death's doorstep in 1993, got her on proper medication along with in-home care, and helped extend her life by more than ten years.
What differentiates Mike as a speaker is that, rather than using theories alone, his written works are based on the experiences he has personally lived through. His experiences demonstrate "actual proof" in the process of achieving monumental triumph of the human spirit.
